The Euromaidan events, occurred in 2014, and Russian military aggression against Crimean Peninsula and in the Donbas as consequences of those developments dramatically changed the political attitude of Azerbaijan towards Ukraine. The political approaches of Baku were also significantly changed towards the Russian Federation. What are the today’s political preferences which the official Baku is following?

The illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014 by the Russian Federation leaded to the situation when Odesa begins to play vitally important role for further Moscow’s political and military expansion over Ukraine. Multiple bombing attacks on the city occurred in 2014. But despite it Russia continues to lose Odesa as a platform for destabilizing situation in Ukraine.

Досрочные парламентские выборы, которые состоялись в Украине 26 октября этого года и проходили по смешанной системе, можно считать такими, что состоялись (соответствующий комментарий уже был сделан МИДом).

Предварительные результаты дают основания сделать следующие промежуточные выводы, важные для формирования политики России в отношении Украины:

15 октября 2014 года во время эфира на довольно –таки либеральном российском радио «Эхо Москвы» оппозиционный российский политик Алексей НАВАЛЬНЫЙ сделал прогнозируемое и, в то же время, очень неприятное для украинских граждан заявление. Он признал Крым частью России и выразил уверенность в том, что полуостров останется в ее составе. В интервью «Эху Москвы» политик порекомендовал украинцам отталкиваться от этого факта.

Falling of Yanukovych’s regime caused by pressure from civil society, and the annexation of the Russian Federation a part of Ukraine, spooked Central Asia. Primarily - Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, where significant Russian-speaking population are living. The local residents fear that the Kremlin could use this as an excuse for domestic interference in their lives by playing the same "Crimean card."

The Geostrategy considers the crisis situation in the Crimea in a broader international context. In the world today there are many conflict zones, similar to the situation in the Autonomy. These conflicts are in various stages of development, but the brutal behavior of Russia could cause them sharp aggravation and, consequently, the occurrence of latent conflicts in the “hot phase”.
